This year’s World Breastfeeding Week slogan is “Empower Parents, Enable Breastfeeding”
The #WBW2019 slogan was chosen to be inclusive of all types of parents in today’s world. It focused on empowering both parents, and to support them in order to realize their breastfeeding goals.
The world breastfeeding week is organized every year by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), starts on 1st August and run right through until 7th of August, a global network that aims to protect, encourage and carry breastfeeding around the world, en route it works with the World Health Organization and Unicef to get its help to the right people in the right communities.
World breastfeeding week aims to spread awareness related to the mother’s health and the outcomes of breast-feeding. Breast Milk is the first food a child receives from the mother; the only source of nutrition’s for a few months. It helps build babies’ brains and bodies in the early years. It reduces the risk of developing cancers in the mother’s body. According to the research of WHO, an increase in breastfeeding reduces almost 20,000 maternal deaths each year due to breast cancer.
